About us

We are a Private Limited Company dealing in raw cotton owned and managed by the Thakkar family. The Thakkar family is in the cotton business since 1930.

The present managing Director Udayan B. Thakkar is the third generation and his son Kunal U. Thakkar had joined the family business 2 years ago.

We are an offshoot of U. B. STEELS, a partnership family firm established in September 1983 for steel and raw cotton business. In order to give separate entity for both raw cotton and steel divisions to facilitate their individual activities, the cotton activities were shifted in 2002 to the newly formed company – U. B. COTTON PVT. LTD. while steel business continues under U. B. STEELS.

We are into import, export and domestic supply of raw cotton. We export in our own name and act as indenting agents for various prominent international Merchants. In imports, we represent some of the finest international merchants in the cotton world. We strive hard to keep our mill buyers in India abreast with the latest market information and give the latest picture of world supply / demand. We also send regular quotes of various foreign origins to the mill buyers. We also sell domestic raw cotton to a number of prominent mills across the country, the main concentration being the cluster of mills in the southern part of India.

We have the necessary set up and connections to cater to the import / export needs of the clientele.

We are a Member of the Cotton Association of India which is an Arbitral and Merchants Body. Udayan B. Thakkar has been a Director on the Directorial Board of CAI for many years now. He is also associated with the various statutory and non-statutory committees of the association.

Kunal U. Thakkar is also an active member of the Association’s various committees.
